Abdominal Fat 1 Spice That Beats It

1 Unique Spice That Beats Abdominal Fat:

I have a great article for you today from one of my trusted colleagues, Certified Nutrition Specialist, Mike Geary. It's about a specific spice that could help you to burn body fat and get leaner, in an indirect way...

Enjoy!

1 Unique Spice That Beats Abdominal Fat:

Ok, this spice that I'm going to mention is one of the most overlooked, but healthiest spices in the world...

You might even call it a "fat burning spice"... in a roundabout way.

And yes, it can actually help you win the battle against abdominal fat if you use it daily...I'll explain why.

Here are some other benefits of this miracle spice:

*controls blood sugar levels
*helps maintain insulin sensitivity
*a very powerful antioxidant
*may have antibacterial and antifungal properties
*and dozens of other benefits

So what is this miracle spice?

Well... it's good old tasty Cinnamon!

Although cinnamon does not directly increase fat burning (such as by increasing metabolic rate, etc), it CAN actually help you to burn off abdominal fat and get leaner through an indirect link.

Here's how...

Although cinnamon has dozens of health benefits, the main benefit that will help you to get leaner is through it's strong effect on controlling blood sugar levels in your body.

In a study published in 2003 in the medical journal Diabetes Care, groups were split into people taking 1, 3, or 6 grams of cinnamon per day in capsule form (the equivalent of approx 1/4th to 1 teaspoon of cinnamon).

The results of the study showed that all 3 amounts of cinnamon reduced fasting blood glucose levels by 18-29% after 40 days.

Cinnamon can also increase insulin sensitivity, which essentially means that it is helping your body to control blood sugar while simultaneously allowing your body to produce less insulin.

As you know, chronically high insulin levels can make your body pack on the blubber.

How to harness this to lose more fat...

One possible way to benefit from cinnamon to lose more fat is to use cinnamon daily in your meals when you can, such as in yogurt or cottage cheese, in smoothies, oatmeal, or anything else you can think of where it would go well.

Also, you could use a cinnamon capsule before each of your meals.

This could help to control blood sugar and insulin response from your meals and thereby control your appetite and cravings throughout the day... hence, helping you to lose body fat more effectively over time.

So now you can see that not only is cinnamon a powerful antioxidant that can help you stay youthful longer, it can also help you to control blood sugar and get a leaner body!

Note: please make sure to consult your doctor before adding any new foods or spices to your nutrition plan if you are taking any medications or have food allergies.

Six Pack Abs Problems And Fixes

1) Common Abs Problem #1 - You have belly fat covering your abs

Solution: Interval training has been shown to help research subjects
lose belly fat. You could almost say it causes spot reduction,
because that's where you'll lose belly fat first with intervals.

In the new TT for Abs DVDs, you'll be able to do your interval
training following along with me.

2)Common Abs Problem #2 - You still have a lower belly pooch

Solution: Eat more fruits and vegetables. You may even want to
replace calories from grains in your diet with almonds or other raw
nuts.

Fruits, vegetables, and raw nuts are all associated with weight loss
and are the foundation of the new Simple Nutrition program that
you'll get with the TT for Abs DVDs.

3) Common Abs Problem #3 - You have no lower abs

Solution: Unconventional exercises like Stability Ball Jackknives,
side planks, and even planks can help you work your lower abs better
and safer than traditional crunches.

4) Common Abs Problem #4 - You're struggling to get sexy abs

Solution: This one will surprise you, but you better believe it.
If you are lean and you've been doing your abs, but they just aren't
right, my old friend Brad Pilon suggests you just need to get a tan.

Seriously, you'll be shocked by how a tan can bring out your muscle
definition all over your body.

5) Common Abs Problem #5 - You can't keep a tight tummy

Solution: Make sure you brace your abs in every exercise you do,
from traditional planks to bodyweight squats, chin-ups, pushups,
and even chest presses. By tightening your abs all the time, you'll
be able to keep a tight tummy all the time.

6) Common Abs Problem #6 - You don't have obliques (or those sweet
lower ab lines that run into your waistband like I do)

Solution: Well, of course you need low body fat to see your abs, but
to help you build obliques and sexy diagonal lines that run into
your waistline, I suggest trying my favorite oblique move, the
Cross-Body Mountain Climber. I'll show you a few versions in the TT
for Abs DVDs.

7) Common Abs Problem #7 - You just don't have abs

Solution: Again, we need to get rid of belly fat, but if you need to
"pop out" your abs, an exercise like the Stability Ball Rollout will
help you build up your abs.

Dieting Rules For That Six Pack Abs Look

The Healthy Eating Rules toget that six pack abs look. You know what I mean that lean, strong, energetic, fit and healthy body you have always wanted. This is where it all starts(and sometimes ends) with your nutrition.

"There is no better time than now. The time to live is now. The time to dream is now. The time to imagine and forget the past is now. The time to shine is now. The time to bleed, sweat, and determine yourself for the things you want most is now."

What are your main Fat loss objectives?

1) Thunder thighs

2) Stomach Fat

3) Love Handles

4) Man Boobs

5) Flabby Arm Fat

6) All of the above

More than likely your problem is how to burn body fat. Yes most people have particular areas (as in the above list) but it comes down to a total body fat loss, weight loss and building lean muscle.

If you know anything about losing weight it is this you can't spot reduce. That is if stomach fat is your main problem doing hundreds of Ab crunches will not reduce your stomach fat. Focusing on specific Ab exercises is only helpful after you lose that layer of fat covering your Ab's.

Here's the deal!! It is only by losing overall body fat that you will then be able to see your Ab's and the overall musculature that you've been hiding.

So What are the keys to Fat Burning?

1) Diet and when I say Diet (actually diet is a poor choice of a word for this ) what I really want you to think of is eating clean and healthy.

First Let me let you in on a little secret

You don't have to have the absolute perfect diet. Yes you need to kick the junk food habit (my weakness is peanut M&M's) but you know what? I still allow myself to indulge in them from time to time.

Stay away from the fast food joints they are killers. It is a matter of developing a clean eating plan, planning out your meals a few days ahead of time helps a lot.

Portion control is usually the biggie. I am sure you have heard the best meal plan for losing fat is eating 5-6 meals a day. The key to this is your eating smaller portions spread out through the day.

You can essentially eat breakfast ( eat the bulk of your carbs early in the day) lunch and dinner but inbetween have 2-3 snacks a day. Snacks consisting of fruit, vegetables, nuts, whole grain products, non fat milk products.

Some benefits of snacking:

1) Healthy snacks provide fiber and nutrients your body needs.

2) You can curb the feeling of hunger or starvation right before a meal, which prevents overeating. Snacking may help you eat smaller portions and reduce your calorie intake.

Here is some calorie numbers for some healthy snacks:

Banana 1 medium banana - 118g Calories: 105

Apple 6.5oz Calories: 96

Raw Almonds 20 almonds Calories: 139

3) Though individual calorie needs vary, your body needs fewer calories as you age.

4) Eating smaller meals more often may help you stay on track.

Eating clean is a matter of determination and motivation if you want that thinner body there are certain sacrifices you must make. I can tell you that once you get into the habit and seeing that lean athletic body in the mirror everyday you will wonder why you didn't do this sooner.

5) Stick to your nutrition plan 90% of the time using the 90% Compliance guidelines.

How does this work?

Well, let's say you are on a 2000 calorie per day diet. To hit 90% compliance, that means 1800 calories must come from fruits, veggies, nuts, and protein, leaving you 200 calories "to play with".

You can either have a 200 calorie treat each day, or save up 200 calories for 3-4 days straight and have a 600-800 calorie reward meal every 3-4 days.

There is no time like the present

Right Now Set The Date Lose the Weight

Just picture this for a moment: In 30 short days from now you look in the mirror and there it is - Or actually there it isn't. It's You with 8-10 lbs less body fat. Close your eyes right now see it and focus on it. Imagine how you will feel with what you have accomplished.

Get More Sleep To Lose More Body Fat

Better Sleep Equals Less Body Fat!

I hope you're doing well and enjoying your good health, energy, and lean body!

Let's take a step away today from the normal discussions about various training techniques or nutrition ideas, and look at another vitally important aspect in your life that plays an important role in your success with your fitness goals. And that aspect is...

How well do you sleep?

I've noticed that one of the challenges for many people in their fitness endeavors is getting enough quality sleep each night. In case you didn't already know, the quality and quantity of your sleep each night is VERY important to maintaining an optimal hormonal balance within your body and keeping your metabolism as high as possible. Obviously, this all translates into a leaner you, if you are sleeping well regularly.

On the other hand, if you never seem to get enough sleep, or don't sleep well enough to give your body the rest and recuperation it needs, you can count on the fact that this lack of sleep is making you fatter! That's right, the lack of quality sleep creates a fat-storing hormonal mess inside your body. The fact is, the stats show that most people don't get enough sleep regularly, and also don't sleep as soundly as they should.

Aside from sleeping disorders, most people simply don't get enough sleep because they have a hard time shutting down their minds at night, which leaves them lying there in bed tossing and turning with thoughts about the stresses of their daily lives shooting through their heads. Does this happen to you?

This has actually been a problem for me personally, but I've started to gain control of this with a few secrets I've learned, and now I can usually fall asleep pretty fast each night. Here are some of the tricks I've used to fall asleep easier each night. Some of these you've probably heard before, but others may be new ideas for you.

1. Try not to exercise intensely within about 2 hours or so of your normal bedtime. However, getting regular daily exercise at any other time of the day will help tire you out so that you can fall asleep easier once bed time comes.

2. Don't try to go to sleep hungry. Contrary to popular belief, just because you eat after 6 or 7 pm does not mean it's going to be instantly deposited as blubbery body fat. As a matter of fact, a lot of very lean people that I know eat small meals right before they go to bed each night. A light healthy snack 30-90 minutes before you hit the pillows will help satisfy your hunger and help you fall asleep easier.

3. Avoid stimulants like caffeine any time after late-afternoon.

4. Try chamomile tea and/or mint tea an hour or two before bed time. These generally have a relaxing effect and can help you calm down at night. I recently found a tea product called "bed time tea", which combines chamomile and mint in the tea bags. I add in just a little touch of raw honey too and this combo really seems to relax me.

5. Try ground nutmeg in capsules an hour or two before bed. Nutmeg is supposed to also have a calming effect on the body. What I've done is buy a couple rounds of whole nutmeg and use a strong coffee grinder to grind them into powder. Then I fill empty capsules with the nutmeg and take a couple each night. Two whole nutmeg rounds will fill a couple dozen capsules, so I store them in a ziplock in the fridge. I'm not totally sure if this helps or not, but it certainly can't hurt, and nutmeg is at least a good source of antioxidants too!

6. Try to clear your mind of daily stresses and things you need to do. This has been my biggest obstacle to overcome in order to fall asleep at night. One thing that helps is to use a note pad to write down what I need to do the next day. That helps me clear my mind and reassure that I won't forget anything, so that I can relax. Instead of thinking about my day, or what I need to do tomorrow, I simply wipe my mind clean, and think about a relaxing place that I enjoy, like a tropical beach, or lying on a hammock in the breeze somewhere. If I can keep my mind on something relaxing like this, and not my daily worries, I fall asleep like a champ!

I know there are many other strategies that people use to help fall asleep, but I figured I'd just give you a few of the tricks that have helped me out with conquering this. Whatever you do, please try to keep it natural... taking sleep aid drugs will almost always have adverse side effects.

So do yourself a favor and pull the plug on the late-night talk shows or late-night Seinfeld re-runs (although that Kramer does crack me up!), and try to get to sleep a little earlier from now on. Clear your mind, relax, and enjoy some good quality sleep that will keep your body leaner and have you feeling more energy filled during each day. Good luck!

This ezine issue was sponsored by Natural Sleep Secrets - an innovative program to help you fall asleep fast and get deep restful sleep every night, without sleeping pills.

I hope this discussion has given you some ideas on how to fall asleep easier at night. Remember, more quality sleep equals a healthier, happier, and leaner you!

Six Pack Abs - Secrets, Myths And How To Get Them

Six Pack Abs Myth's Tip's And Fact's

Hot six-pack abs are sought after and oft-admired, especially during the summer months. If you're on the lookout for that perfect six pack ab solution to help you get in shape for this year's beach scene or whatever reason, you might be confused to how to get started.

5 myths surrounding hot six-pack abs

Let us look at these myths and see if you've fallen for them.

Health foods are readily available in the form of bars, drinks, and a hundred other shapes and sizes. The claim here is that that health foods will help you lose your belly fat and develop six pack abs. The simple fact is that the only real health foods are the ones created by nature, not in a laboratory. If your ingredients list is more then 6 or 7 items long, and any item has more than 5 or 6 syllables, you're not a health food.

The second myth about getting Six-Pack Abs is the notion that abs exercises will burn off your belly fat. Many people think that by doing 100 crunches a day they will eliminate belly fat. Sorry, that doesn't work; you will strengthen the muscle under the fat but the reality is your belly fat will still be there.

Thirdly, everybody agrees that cardiovascular workouts are important for fat loss, but there are right ways and wrong ways for doing cardiovascular exercise.

As an example:

Instead of the marathon treadmill workout try interval training, Short intense and highly effective for burning belly fat to show those six pack abs. Intervals are the single most results producing exercise that there is for boosting your metabolism, helping you burn inches off your body, and giving you a tight, lean, strong shape.

An interval is a short period of exercise performed at a given intensity for a specific length of time. Each interval is separated from the next interval by a short rest or lighter activity.

Contrary to what many marketers want you to believe, you cannot rely exclusively on a pill to burn belly fat and get you six-pack abs. You need a combination of diet, exercise, and willpower, these are the contributing factors to lose fat, lose weight and properly support six-pack abs.

Infomercials Should Be Banned!

Last, but far from least, waste of money that is ab belts, rockers, loungers, and similar gizmos. The commercials are always so attractive as you watch the model with perfect six-pack abs flex away on the nifty-looking ab machine. The reality is that the contraption they're using has absolutely nothing to do with their perfectly chiseled stomachs and six pack ads!

3 tips to obtain hot six-pack abs

There are 3 ultimate tips for losing belly fat and getting Six Pack Abs.

First, figure out your daily energy needs, and eat properly to meet those needs, and nothing more. If you eat more than you need, losing belly fat becomes much harder.

Second, learn proper weight training and interval training. Total Body Conditioning Workouts are the key. Weight training is still the best form of exercise for raising your metabolism.

Here's how to set up your workouts:

Weight training - 3 days a week - Total Body Conditioning Workouts - Concentarting on muli joint exercises - 3-5 exercises per workout - 45 minute at most workouts.

Interval Training workouts - 2-3 days a week - again total body conditioning - 2-3 exercises - 20 minute workout time tops.

Finally, learn which methods of ab strengthening are ineffective, and avoid them. The truth is, some of the old - standbys' for ab strengthening are directly counterproductive!

Want a good ab exercise? Forget Crunches do Mountain Climbers

3 common mistakes people make trying to lose belly fat and get six-pack abs

Most of the thousands of people trying to lose belly fat and get six pack abs for themselves make the same 3 mistakes over and over. The most common of those mistakes is failing to realize that you simply cannot achieve six pack abs that will show if you do not lose the belly fat that is covering them up! This is why spot-reducing doesn't work. The correction to this mistake is to eat and train properly to lose fat while you gain lean muscle.

Second mistake: a lack of cardiovascular exercise. You do need to perform some cardio in order to burn that belly fat, but you may not realize how you should be performing cardiovascular exercise. Rather than long duration cardio, try what I suggested earlier high intensity 'interval training' that you will perform in less time but with better results.

Finally, you need to rework your workout start doing total body conditioning workouts and teach yourself why crunches and similar old-school exercises are not going to give you six pack abs. I gave you one suggestion and there are many others

Total Body Conditioning Workouts,Healthy Food Choices and a strong desire will get you to your fat loss goals so you can see those six pack abs.

6 Pack Abs: Are You Wasting Your Time With Cardio Workouts

Are Cardio Workouts Wasting Your Time?

A look into why typical long-duration steady-state cardio exercise routines are not the most effective way to lose body fat.

article by Mike Geary, Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Specialist

Are you wasting your time with hours and hours of boring cardio workouts each and every week? Well, you should be warned that steady-state cardio exercise is not the best way to get lean and lose fat.

Many people (including many fitness trainers and health professionals) just assume that it's a "fact" that you need cardio exercise for fat loss. The truth is that although cardio can help some people to lose fat simply from burning extra calories and living a healthier lifestyle in general, cardio is not the end-all be-all of fat loss.

In fact, there are types of workouts that can be more effective for losing fat if they are done with the right intensity and with the right types of exercises. Resistance training workouts (weights, bands, bodyweight, etc) as well as certain types of interval training workouts can produce better results if done correctly.

The joints

One problem to be aware of is that excessive cardio exercise such as long distance running can have tremendous impacts on the joints. On the other hand, shorter, but more intense styles of interval training, as well as resistance training can actually strengthen the joints when done properly (instead of wearing down the joints).

The After-burn effect

Also, same-pace cardio does not have the same metabolism-boosting effect and "afterburn" effect that resistance training workouts or interval training workouts have on your body. In studies, it has been shown that a high intensity weight training workout or interval training workout such as sprints or hill sprints can increase the metabolic rate for up to 1-2 days following the workout. This means you burn more calories AFTER the workout compared to a typical cardio routine.

This occurs because these higher intensity forms of training (such as weight training done at high intensity and interval cardio) stimulate muscle tissue to a greater degree and subsequently, the body must do more work to repair and rebuild the muscles throughout the body. This requires more energy and thus the "afterburn effect" of a raised metabolism and higher calorie burn in the 24-48 hours after the workout.

Compare this to a slower, steady-state cardio workout and the studies have shown that this afterburn effect only lasts 1-2 hours instead of 1-2 days as with the higher intensity workouts.

The Fat-Burning Hormonal Effect

Another aspect we must explore is the hormonal effect that certain types of exercise have on your body. With long duration excessive cardio exercise, you can actually go into a catabolic mode and the body starts to produce excess amounts of cortisol. This is not good and can lead to muscle loss and a reduced metabolic rate.

On the other hand, resistance training and high intensity interval training can stimulate muscle building and fat burning hormones in your body due to the stronger effort required by your full body musculature. This is yet another reason that weight training and interval workouts can create a leaner, more toned look in the body compared to focusing mostly on cardio routines.

The Skinny-Fat Appearance

Have you ever noticed someone that does a lot of cardio seemingly almost every day, yet still has that "skinny fat" appearance?

I see it all the time... basically this is where someone appears skinny in their legs, arms, chest, and back, yet has a visible gut in their belly, with excess stomach fat.

This is one of the typical results of someone that spends way too much time with cardio exercise routines instead of focusing more on resistance training and intervals

Six Pack Abs Total Body Workouts Use Compound Exercises

Body Part Isolation vs. Complex Movements in Strength Training

Working as a fitness professional, there is one type of question I get all the time that shows that many people are missing the big picture regarding the benefits of strength training. This popular question usually goes something like this:

“What exercise can I do to isolate my _______ (insert your muscle of choice – abs, quads, biceps, triceps, etc)?”

It doesn’t matter which muscle someone is asking about, they always seem to be asking how to ‘isolate’ it. My first response to this question is always – “Why in the world would you want to isolate it?”

The first thing I try to teach my clients is that the body does not work well in muscle isolation. Rather, it works better in movements along a kinetic chain; that is, large portions of the body assist other portions of the body in completing a complex movement. In fact, there really is no such thing as true muscle isolation. There is almost always a nearby muscle group that will assist in some way with whatever movement you are doing. However, this article compares attempting to ‘isolate’ body parts via single-joint exercises to the much more effective strategy of performing multi-joint complex movements.

When you attempt to ‘isolate’ muscles by performing single-joint exercises, you are actually creating a body that is non-functional and will be more prone to injury. Essentially, you are creating a body that is a compilation of body parts, instead of a powerful, functional unit that works together.

Now if you really want to end up hobbling around in a body bandaged up with joint problems, tendonitis, and excess body fat, then by all means, continue trying to ‘isolate’ body parts. On the other hand, if you would rather have a lean, muscular, injury-free, functional body that works as a complete powerful unit to perform complex movements (in athletics or even everyday tasks), then you need to shift your focus away from muscle isolation.

Believe me, focusing on how well your body functions will give you the side effect of a body that looks even better than it would have if you focused on muscle isolation. For example, take a look at the physiques of any NFL running backs, wide receivers, or even world class sprinters. Trust me when I say that these guys pretty much NEVER train for muscle isolation (their strength coaches wouldn’t be crazy enough to let them), yet they are absolutely ripped to shreds! Just look at guys like Maurice Green or Terrell Owens and tell me who wouldn’t want a physique like those guys.

Another benefit to moving away from the ‘muscle isolation’ mindset to a more ‘complex movement’ mindset is that you will find it much easier to lose body fat. The reason is that by focusing more on multi-joint complex movements as opposed to single-joint muscle isolation, you not only burn a lot more calories during each workout, but you also increase your metabolic rate, and stimulate production of more fat burning and muscle building hormones like growth hormone and testosterone.

Let’s look at an example. The machine leg extension is a single joint exercise that works mainly the quadriceps, can potentially cause knee joint instability in the long run, and doesn’t even burn that many calories. On the other hand, exercises like squats, lunges, step-ups, and deadlifts are all multi-joint complex movements that work hundreds of muscles in the body (including the quadriceps) as a functional unit, create more stable and strong joints in the long run (when done properly), and also burn massive quantities of calories compared to the single-joint exercises.

Ab Truth stop wasting your time on countless reps of crunches and other ab isolation exercises. Only by total body conditioning will you get real results.
